disney hangover.

It’s been a long time since we’ve done a good, old-fashioned check in around here (like… before Christmas?!), so here we go.

  1. My parents treated us to a trip to Orlando at the end of January, and it was awesome! Between being with their adoring grandparents and being at Disney World and being able to walk around in shorts in January, the kids were pretty thrilled.  I posted a pic from Disney on my Instagram account and someone asked if I was going to do a post on doing Disney with small kids.  NOPE.  I have no tips. But I highly recommend having parents who come with you and watch the kids so you can have a date night and then wake up with your 2 year old at 5 am every morning.  Not helpful? Just bragging?  Sorry.  Yeah, I have no tips.{Kiiinda trying to nurse a baby here, Tigger.}
  2. Joey is going to be five this month. FIVE. It didn’t hit me until the other day when I told him his cup was in the kitchen and he went in and reached up on the counter like no big deal and I thought, “Wow, he’s gotten really tall all of a sudden. He looks so big.” Then it hit me that he’s almost five and a completely average height for a FIVE YEAR OLD and I kind of lost it a bit.  Anyway, he’s requested a lego party, which seems super fun and low-maintenance until you see the cake that he wants me to make for him.  Slightly concerned that I won’t measure up because his cake standards get more exacting every year, so pray for me and my homemade lego cake, yeah?{Joey with his birthday button!}
  3. Meanwhile, Grace keeps screaming that her birthday is in MAY and she wants EVERYTHINGPINKANDAFROZENBIRTHDAYCAKEBUTPINK.  So at least we’ve got that figured out ahead of time.{One of each dessert and the pink leopard print mouse ears she picked out. So Grace.}
  4. One of my goals for this year (fine, really my only goal) was to read a book a week, and I’m well on my way.  Note to self: it really helps to make new year’s resolutions about things that you like to do.  Eat more chocolate. Read more books.  Fold less laundry. I came across this book group, and I’m really looking forward to reading and discussing the selections!  I’ve already reserved the first 3 books from the library!
  5. So, remember when I did that Buy Nothing November and it was awesome?  And a bunch of you were like, “Oh, I WOULD, except Christmas presents!” WELL.  Your time has come friends, because it’s happening again in March and I’d love to have you join me.  Actually, since Lent starts March 1st this year, I’m thinking about extending it a bit and making it a Lenten thing, carrying through until Easter.  So if this sounds like something you’d like to do with me, consider it.  I can’t even tell you how fruitful it was in November.  Like, I’m actually looking forward to starting again in March. If you have questions, go back and check out this post, or shoot me a message.  I’ll check back in with you before we start, so you have some time to think about it and decide if you want to try it with me.
  6. If you need some motivation to try a Buy Nothing March, check out the documentary on Netflix that everyone’s talking about: Minimalism. I really enjoyed it for the most part and yelled, YES! at the tv a lot, so that’s usually a good sign.
  7. In other extremely important news, my mother-in-law got me some of these sponges for Christmas and they really do work to exfoliate your skin and make you all glow-y.{Disney is exhausting. Fun, but exhausting.}

  1. Christina! So glad to hear from you again!!!

    Love the Tigger picture. Glad you had an awesome time. 🙂 I just requested to be in the book discussion. Looks like fun!

  2. LOLing at the tigger picture. The guy inside that suit obviously had no idea what he had gotten himself into ? Cheers to you for not flashing the entire restaurant though! No easy task!
    I was juuuust thinking about doing a buy nothing lent, so I am totally in!

  3. This tigger picture is hysterical. Thanks for joining in the Liturgy of Life Reading Group. I’m pleased that you were able to get 3 of the books reserved at the library. I try to find books that aren’t too obscure but my library only had one of them. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts as we go along.
