library haul 10/18

Hey all!  Did you get to the library this week? We sure did, and got a TON of books.  But here are a few of the highlights:dsc_0199Teaching from Rest – I might be the last homeschooler/homeschooling wannabe in the world to read this book, but what can I say?  I’m not great at keeping up with the Joneses.  But I can tell you that all those people who said this book was a really great resource and encouragement for homeschoolers were right on.  I can see revisiting this one again and again.  Awesome, helpful read.

dsc_0204Finding Wild – I thought this was a really fun read and my kids liked it to.  It’s about finding little bits of wilderness wherever you are.  Sweet, lovely illustrations and well written.  My crew loved it.

dsc_0206Josey Baker Bread – Because I love reading about baking bread.  And looking at pictures of bread.  And actually baking bread.  All so I can eat the bread.  This book is lovely and I was inspired to try lots of the recipes.  I’ll be baking some up soon.

dsc_0179Me… Jane – I was pretty obsessed with Jane Goodall as a kid, so obviously I snatched this one up when I saw it.  This is a sweet story about child Jane and her stuffed chimp, Jubilee.  When I read this to the kids, I told them, “When I was little, I wanted to grow up and work with chimps, just like Jane.  But now…” and then Joey chimed in, “You take care of us monkeys!” And then I died because my kids have my exact same corny sense of humor, apparently.  WIN.

dsc_0180Green is a Chile Pepper – I grabbed this book for a couple reasons.  I’ve noticed that Grace likes to point out colors, but she was struggling with a few of them.  Most things are either “blue” or “pink”.  So each week I’ve been trying to borrow a couple books that focus on colors. Second, my kids love books either in Spanish or that incorporate Spanish words.  Which is awesome.  And I love books that celebrate other cultures.  This book had a little of all the above and the kiddos loved it.  Super sweet illustrations, as well.

Do y’all know the drill by now?  If you had some great library finds this week, either link up below, or leave me some comment love so we can all share in the bounty.  I LOVE seeing what you all are reading!

  1. Looks like we need to go check out “Finding Wild”! We loved ‘Me… Jane’ and the whole series that ‘Green is a chile pepper’ is from. What a great haul!

    1. The rest of the “Green Is a Chile Pepper” series is going on our list for next week, too!

  2. So glad Teaching from Rest lived up to the hype for you. I think I need to re-read it every year so I remember to breathe. 🙂

Thanks for hosting! This has been the highlight of my blogging week. <3
